In the dark eras of the empire, rangers still do their job – protect residents, explore the wilderness, unite communities, fight monsters and repossess the treasures of the emperor. At the start of the game, you are given a task; during the game, the chronicle introduces new situations, and the rangers must cope with events that can bring them fame. Chronicle options are Open Door, In the Shadow of the Dragon, Underground Threat, Damsel not in Distress, A Rebel Problem and Things were Better Before. A turn comprises determining adversities and then resolving two different actions – move, rest, visit community, cope with problem, experience incident, build or repair building, build tower, ranger-specific action or restricted action. The rangers win if the last chapter of the chronicle is completed.
