BattleLore combines elements of board games, role-playing games and tabletop into a conflict between to fraction based on scenarios. Background for the beautiful and sumptuously equipped game is Europe in the Middle Ages, enriched by fantasy elements.  A move comprises the phases command, activate, move, conflict and drawing. Aim of the game is to conquer a certain number of victory banners, either from the banner bearer of a beaten enemy unit or for crest tiles earned by conquering landscape tiles or other reaching other scenario goals.

The expansion introduces three new creatures: One Green Banner Wood Giant with a Forest Lair Hex, one Blue Banner Hydra with 6 interchangeable head pieces and a Red Banner Rock Elemental with a Vortex Hex. Furthermore, there are card, poison markers and web markers for a Blue Widow Spider, the miniature is part of the core set. New scenarios are: Denizen of the Wood, The Hydra, Magic Vortex, Spider River und A Call for Reinforcements.
