Volterra

Generation towers in medieval Volterra indicate wealth. You lay out a 4x5 grid of light and dark squares in a chess board pattern. The two pawns begin on the central squares of their color. Towers comprise one or several squares and belong to the owner of the top square. In a turn, you have two actions in any order: Move your pawn onto a directly adjacent tower AND relocate the top or the top two squares of one of your own towers with minimum one free side onto a directly adjacent tower. The board can be split; if both pawns are in the same part, the other part is out of play; otherwise, each player continues in their part of the board. If someone cannot implement both action, you win with the highest tower.
