Throw dice for the Chief position
Tribes want to choose their chief by mastering tasks. Each game comprises four rounds and each round has four phases: Placing of Tribes cards - Tricks - Challenge - Draw Tribes card - New Tricks.
Basically, in each round you always throw the “Jack” die; you throw it with one hand and must catch it with the same hand, but at the same time you must do the action of the task, for instance, take one die from the table.
The trick cards are made up from cards for a solo trick and cards for a trick duel. In the first phase of the round you place a Tribes card from your hand next to one of the solo tricks. When a trick was chosen by only one player he tries to master it, of course while throwing and re-catching the Jack. If he succeeds he keeps the Tribes card he played.
When several players have chosen a trick, the first two cards next to this trick are moved to the duel stack of tricks. Should even more players have chosen this trick, the remaining ones must do the trick as a solo task. After the duel the winner takes one of the Tribes card, the other one is taken out of play. If you are not happy with the results of a duel or a solo trick you can play another Tribes card and try again, the Tribes card is taken out of play. When all tricks have been resolved, you turn over the top challenge card and all players try to master the task simultaneously. The winner of the trick takes the challenge card.
Then you draw a new Tribes card and new tricks are revealed. After four rounds you win with most points on the cards you won.
Oss offers a cute variation of astragal games, not difficult, but very challenging!
