PLAYED FOR YOU
Splendor
Collect jewels and buy cards
As a rich Renaissance merchant you use your wealth to acquire mines and transportation and to hire artisans to turn raw diamonds into jewels. A display of Development cards is prepared, there are 40 cards of Level 1, 30 cards of Level 2 and 20 cards of Level 3, four of each level are on display. You also lay out, randomly drawn, one Nobleman card more than there are players. Then each player in turn has one action chosen from 1) Taking a colored gem chip - three different ones or two of the same color provided there are at least four of them. If you have more than 10 chips, you must discard the surplus. 2) Reserve a Development card - you take a card from the face-down stack or from the display up into your hand and take one Gold as a joker. 3) Buy a Development card - you discard the chips depicted on the card and take a card from the display or from your hand and lay it down in a way that leaves victory points and bonuses visible on all cards in your display. Cards you bought yield bonuses for further buys, each bonus corresponds to one chip of this color. If you have accumulated the necessary bonuses on cards you are visited by a Nobleman and receive his card for Prestige. If someone has collected 15 Prestige points the round is finished and then you win with most Prestige points.
A family game that leaves nothing to wish for - it has simple rules, a quick access to the game, good and nicely interacting mechanisms and a little bit of tactic when buying cards. The basic flow is always the same, but the variety in noblemen cards and development cards on display offers a high replay value.
