Warbit
Dicejar vs Psycholon
Conflict in space, each player represents one faction and commands space bases, shipyards and ships, at the start with a shield strength of 1. Both players place - using the game box as a temporary screen - their eight ships and one basis or a shipyard into their own zone; space ships go into orbit - one spot in an orbit must remain empty - and a shipyard or base on the planet.
In your turn, you can move two ships up their maximum range and then you adapt the shield strength, range minus steps taken. Planets with opposing ships in orbit cannot be passed by, you must enter the orbit. Instead of moving a ship you can adjust its shield strength to maximum. If you have ships sitting next to the board that were destroyed in battle, you can - instead of moving ships or maximizing shields - also re-enter such a ship with full shield strength, on your home planet or a planet with a shipyard.
When opposing space ships encounter each other in orbit, the resulting conflict is resolved by rolling dice. Retreating by one step in direction of your home planet is an option. If you have the the better position in orbit, you can attack preventively or do a pincer attack with two ships. If you defeated an opposing ship, you can set up a base for more attack power or a shipyard for repairs. You win, if you have established five bases or shipyards on opposing planets, or one of those on the opposing mother planet.
This would be a standard conflict/area control game like many others, were there not the absolutely spectacular game board, which seems to carry you straight into space, coupled with cleverly constructed little ships that are folded into a 3D construct. A game for collectors!
