The 8x8
board has several squares marked for positioning the starting blocks of the
game. Each player has 6 knighs and 1 scoring piece and starts the game by
placing one of his knights in any free castle, the last player puts the king into
an empty castle.
The game is
played in 3 phases with four, three and three rounds each, a round ends, when
each player has had one turn. In each turn a player can use 5 action points to
place knights (2AP), move a knight (1AP), place blocks (1Ap per block) or to
buy an action card (1AP). Playing action cards is free, a card may not be
played in the same round it has been bought. At the end of each phase players
score points for a knight in a castle, area of the castle x levels in the
castle. A knight in the king's castle scores extra points, if he stands at the
level corresponding to the phase that is scored, e.g. in phase 2 the knight
must stand on level 2 of the castle.
