San Marco

A few families reign in Venice under the leadership of the Doge and now a new family is to be admitted to the governing board. Players try to distribute and play cards to win majorities in the 6 city boroughs and to receive prestige points at scorings. The game is played in 3 phases, each phase consists of several rounds. The start player randomly chooses roles for himself and the other players, players can be either “Dividers” or “Deciders”. Each divider draws 5 action cards and 3 limit cards from the piles and divides those cards into 2 offers, an offer must contain a minimum of one card. Then each decider looks at both offers, takes one of them and plays the cards according to the previously determined sequence. This is repeated until a player reaches or surpasses 10 limit points, then the phase ends for him, the remaining players under10 play one more round, again the roles and sequences are accorded randomly. Scoring is done in the borough with the doge whenever a doge card is played and there is a final scoring regardless of the doge’s position after the three phases, the player with the most prestige points wins.
