Tires screeching on the track

Drive to protect your tires or burn petrol? In this car racing game in limited edition is the maximum speed of a race car depends on the status of its tires, and also on the starting spot for the individual turn and the amount of petrol in the tank.

You begin the game with proper tires and can choose the die for the maximum speed. In the standard edition you draw a card instead of rolling a die. At the start of each round turbo tiles are assigned according to positions of cards in the race. Then each player has turns with: Determine maximum speed and draw a speed card or roll die (both obligatory), then change speed (voluntary) either by using a turbo tile or discard petrol. Then you must move your car, only over and onto empty cases and through bends with a maximum of 60 degrees, always the maximum of steps. As final action you must in an obligatory action determine the degree of tire degradation, because completing a round, driving over curbstones or through steeper bends or hitting a car in front damage your tires. If tire damages forces you to take a pit stop you must pass a round, but get petrol and new tires. If you move the marker for game rounds off the board, the race ends and positions of cards are determined.

There are many car racing games, but in this game tires influence the speed of your car and the decision for a pit stop or for remaining further back in order to have a better case to start from in the next turn can be the one that decides the race. Licks is a small, neat and very sophisticated race game; if you are a fan of such games you should try to get it!
