So ein Affentheater

Three tiles - one word

Memo, not in pairs but using triplets of cards that together describe a two-word term. The game features 20 series of three tiles each, one tile represents the first word in the term, a second tile the second word, and the third tile illustrates the term - one image, for instance, shows a wall, the second one a flower, and the third a girl and the flower in front of the wall to represent “wallflower”. The background colors of the tiles provide a bit of assistance for finding the tiles in a triplet, they are identical on all three tiles, albeit not always clearly recognizable. But in principle, each tile has a “floor” color and a “wall” color.

Gameplay itself is more than simple - you turn over three tiles in the display -if they belong together, you take them and have another turn; if not, you turn them back over and your turn passes to the next player.

It can be helpful to concentrate on one element of the images, this can be a color or a decoration element, etc. Items are especially useful, they are usually part of the term and if you look very closely, you very often can find both images for the word on one or two of the tiles; the series for the tree nursery, for instance, has the same tree on all three tiles and the hoarding series shows hamsters in all three tiles, albeit in very different sizes.

This is a nice, entertaining memo variant with unusual drawings. Recognizing the two-word time is not necessarily, but helpful, especially if you come across the tile for the complete term first. A game more for families with elder children, with younger children you can remove some of the series.
