Die Hexen

A disc World Game

In the kingdom of Lancre on Disc World young witches train to solve problems, because to be a witch means to solve other people’s problems.

Basically, you move your trainee witch across the board and solve easy or hard problems. Easy ones get you more cards, which in turn make you stronger.

In your turn you lay out a problem, or a Crisis marker, if appropriate, and then you move on foot or by broomstick. At your destination you must solve a problem that is there or drink tea with witches, if one or more are at the location, or, if there is nothing else, you do nothing. Problems are in principle solved in the same way: you roll dice and use cards to influence dice results. After rolling you can, instead of trying to solve the problem, run away, if certain conditions are met. If you solve a problem, you take the tile. If you fail, you retreat and take a Cackle marker. If you have most of those and must take another one, you take a Black Aliss marker instead. By drinking tea with witches you shed Cackle markers. Finally, you refill your card hand.

When there are not enough Crisis Markers or when three Elves are on display, the game ends instantly without a winner. Otherwise, when the last problem tile has been placed, you score for solved problems and deduct 1 point for each Black Aliss marker you hold and then you win with the highest score.

The problem of „Good game or not“ can be solved without witches! For Pratchett fans? Yes, definitely, topic and illustrations take you to Disc World instantly. For families? Yes! For experienced players? No, this group will fare better with Ankh-Morpork by the same designer.
