Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, but in this galaxy, there was a game about magicians and their rivalries, which, after some revisions, turned out to be so good that is is still played today, and, what's even more important, still reprinted today, currently in its overall eighth edition!
Magical Mayhem is happening in an underground stone labyrinth - Wizards are fighting each other for the office of Guild Master in dangerous and deadly confrontations! All players together choose three Schools of Magic - groups of thematically connected spells - for a game, and also the board they want to use, the new one or the classic one. Board and magic draw pile are prepared, mages and treasures are placed and each player is dealt five starting cards. Players take consecutive turns; for the active player time passes at the start of his turn, the effect duration of temporary spells is reduced by one, corresponding effects are resolved and stupefaction is removed. Then you can move up to three steps including optional acceleration, casting of any number of neutral spells and attack. Then you discard cards and draw cards. If you have two victory points from eliminating wizards or stealing of treasures or if you are the last one alive, you win.
Well, it is an evergreen, and not for nothing! The war of mages is more fun the more familiar you become with the cards of different magic schools, their effects and their uses; additional fun in each of many games is guaranteed, albeit with a slight difficulty in accessing the rules. In game variants you can try your hand at rules that were used in earlier editions of the game.
