Cards for a route are laid out, three of them can be placed showing the „tailwind“ side for quicker travel or „head wind“ for slower advancing. You begin with two oar cards and one Captain Water Sprite card. As active player, you draw a card from another player - if it is an oar card, you can advance your ship and end your turn, or draw another card. If you draw the Captain, you do not move and cannot use previously drawn oar cards, all cards go back to their owners. If you used oar cards, you take them in hand. If you reach a wind card, you must move forwards or backwards accordingly. If you reach the lighthouse, you take the sea map; if you own it, you can advance your ship double the number of oars depicted on oar cards you drew. If you reach the treasure island first, you win.
