Iki
Die Handwerker und Händler von Edo
You hire traders and artisans and assign them work stations. In 13 months, the last one represents New Year’s Festival, you receive income, determine movement of your Oyakata, walk along the main street and interact with traders and shops. Hired artists and salesmen must be trained and sponsored to trade, buy, set up status symbols and to contribute to the town’s development. Traders gain experience from each interaction and even create income when they have retired. You trade in rice, fishes and tobacco, and also erect buildings to earn Iki. A round comprises three phases: 1) Ikizama, with placement of Ikizama pawns on the Ikizama track. 2) Action with receiving money or hiring traders, moving the Oyakata, doing business and taking back the Ikizama pawn. 3) Event with payment day after months 3, 6, 9 and 12, OR fire after months 5, 8 and 11. In phases 2) and 3), you can increase your Iki. After the New Year’s Festival, you score for trader variety, fishes, tobacco pouches, buildings and resources.
