PLAYED FOR YOU
Mixola
Red, yellow and blue for the finish
Race of colors on the snail’s shell – its color-segmented spirals provide the track. Players begin the race with their markers in the starting position. In order to move a marker you roll the three snail dice that show a red, blue or yellow front and a colorless back which represents White. When you have rolled the snail dice you look at the table of mixed or secondary colors to find the mixed color corresponding to your roll and then you move your marker to the next segment of this color. When the segment is empty, you put your marker there. If the segment is taken by another marker, you relocate this marker back to the next segment of its color or back to the start when the color is not available behind this marker.
When all three snail dice show white, you do not move, that is, pass this round. When you rolled all three colors, this is called a Rainbow Roll and you can choose a color. The center of the snail shell is reached by achieving a Rainbow Roll or by rolling your own color, if there is no segment of your own color between your marker and the middle anymore. If you manage to reach the middle foist, you win.
In the advanced version all above-mentioned rules apply, but you cannot oust a marker on a segment of its own color; you jump over such a marker and place your marker on the next segment of this color. When you roll to reach the middle and achieve an unsuitable result, you must move your marker back to the color rolled.
Mixola is a) very pretty, b) easy and simple, and 3) a very good educational game on the topic of secondary colors, which even introduces first tactical considerations in case of a Rainbow Roll.
