Zweins
A meadow and a ball combine to playing field
The dealer of the round takes all double-sided cards in hand and reveals them one by one; all players simultaneously try to combine terms relating to images into a word made up from two words. The focus should be more on creativity and clever use of card contexts or connections than verbatim use or use of details. The Ace of Hearts for instance, ca be used for Card, Heart, Ace, One or even Trump or Game, or the card “Football at the Goal Post” can be used for Foot or Ball or Goal or Match and so on. You can even use movement that is indicated on the card, all you need to do is find some relation to the image on the card. If you find a two-word term, you stop the revealing of cards and name the term. When all players agree that it is correct you take the card that you used for the first part of the term and turn over the second card. If several terms were named they are checked one after the other. When the same card was used for the same or different context by several players, each of them takes a random card from the stack for a victory point. When the last card has been revealed and nobody finds any term anymore, you win with most cards.
In a version for ages 8+ all play simultaneously again, but you use only one card from the display for the first or second part of the combined term the other part can be chosen independently. In the version for age’s 6+ all play in clockwise order one by one, and only use one card, too. If you cannot find a word, you pass your turn.
Zweins is a wonderfully creative game in which the focus should be on originality and imagination to provide real good fun for all!
