Dog chases of cat

You have animals in hand for chasing away animals of other players. You have a set of 16 animals with elephants, dogs, cats and mice, with values 1 to 4 for each animal, all sets are identical. Four starting cards are laid out, Mouse 1, Cat 2, Dog 3 and Elephant 4. Four support cards show the ranking: cat chases away mouse, dog chases away cat, elephant chases away dog and mouse chases away an elephant.

In 16 rounds each of the players plays one animal card per round face-down on the table, and then all cards are turned up simultaneously. Each kind of animals chases away only one kind of animal, but all animals of that kind. When only one player has played a certain animal, he takes the support card for it; when several players played the same kind, the card is taken by the player who played the highest value. In case of a tie the support card goes to the player with the next-lower number. When all support cards are taken whoever holds a card takes all animals of that type from the display and from those on the table from players. Then you give back the support cards and animals that were not chased away remain on display. When the display is empty, all players play a card face-down in the middle, reveals it and leaves it for a display, chasing does not happen and the next round begins.

When all cards are played and animals assigned accordingly, you add up the values of cards you won and the winner is whoever collected most points.

A new and very cute interpretation of the good old Rock-Paper-Scissors mechanism, nicely illustrated and very well suited to be taken along for holidays or to be played for a filler.
