Hare & Tortoise is a race game, movement is paid for with carrots, price raises exponentially, 1 carrot for 1 square, 3 for 2, 6 for 3, 55 for 10 squares movement. Each hare also has to eat 3 salads and must try to arrive first with as few carrots as possible. On carrot squares one can get or shed carrots, on tortoise squares on receives carrots, on number squares one gets carrots if one is in the correct position, and on salad squares one can eat a salad, one may only move onto them if one has a salad. Hare squares bring event cards. Sequence of squares on the board corresponds to the english Gibsons edition. Game of the Year 1979, Ravensburger edition.
