Players set sail for adventures and must first load the ship as well as they can with all items they might need. If you can then meet demands you will make discoveries and receive rewards.

The tableau of Das Diebische Äffchen is laid out next to the board; you draw four items and put them on the tableau - they are out of play for the round and cannot be taken. At the start of each round you put the items back into stock and draw four new ones that are now unavailable during the round.
