Funkenschlag deluxe is a revised version of Funkenschlag on occasion of the 10 Years Anniversary, featuring new maps for Europe and Northern America; not a new edition, but a special edition for the anniversary. Basically all the standard rules apply: Each player represents a company that produces electricity in power stations and supplies cities by setting up an electricity network. During the game you bid for power stations and buy resources for electricity. At the same time you must propagate the expansion of your network to supply an increasing number of cities with electricity.

Contrary to the original edition there are generators for players, the resources markers are easier to distinguish and there is - new - gas instead of garbage for a resource. All power stations in the power station stack are new and there are new summary cards for the resources supplies.

For North America there are different rules for Phase 2 Buying Power Stations and for Phase 4 Building. There are also - in Level 2 of the game - special rules for removal of the smallest power station from the market - in North America it is replaced, in Europe there is then one power station less. This is supplemented by a new rule for two players, “Gegen then großen Konzern”. Players must include machinations of a big conglomerate into their planning and also use them against their opponent.

In its 10^th year Power Grid is still one of the games that one must have and must play, quality and fun with the game are well-known and uncommonly big. IF you do not own the first edition you should not miss this one. Fans of the game will probably want both of them.
