The basic game is laid out, fish tiles are placed face
down with the raw materials, the fishing grounds are
placed on free corners of the frame. Each fishing ground yields three fishing
areas at three crossings. For a settlement or a town next to a
fishing area a player receives a fish tile when the number on the fishing
ground is rolled. Fishes can be exchanged: 2 fish relocate the robber into the
desert, 3 fish allow the drawing of a material card from a player, 4 fish
result in a raw material from the bank, 5 fish immediately build a road and 7
fish bring a free development card. Fish tiles are not counted as raw materials
for the robber. The old boot can be handed on to another player with the same
number of victory points, the player owning the old boot needs 11 victory
points to win.
