You play cards from hand to end up with only one card with a high number. You are dealt cards according to number of players and draft three to the right; then, in turn, you either play a card on the open discard pile – it must be higher than the top one there – OR play a card lower than the one on the discard pile openly before you, this is now an auxiliary card and you must select a card from the discard pile, which is then set aside face-down; OR you put a card lower than the one on the discard pile from your hand by adding the value of one or more auxiliary cards to it so that the total is higher than that of the top card in the pile, the used auxiliary cards are out of play. If someone has only one card in hand, your highest card scores points minus the values of all other cards, auxiliary cards are ignored. After rounds = number of players you win with most points.
