18xx variant, intended to be an shorter introductory game to the series; the rules of 1830 apply and you need components from 1830 to play 1879. The board with trains and the stock market with shares are prepared. There are no private companies, you start with auctioning the President’ Certificate of the Northern Pacific. The winner of the auction, determines its PAR value. A company becomes operative when 60% of shares are out. Spokane (grey city) pays 20 in Phase Yellow, 30 in Phase Green and 40 in Phase Brown. D trains cost $1100 and are not limited. Starting cities can only be used by their companies, there are special rules for SPS.
